Early Identification of Speech & Language Concerns

Kathryn Pengilly and Tiphanie Kaufmann will present information regarding identification of speech and language issues in elementary school aged children.  Speech topics which will be addressed include articulation and phonology. Receptive language topics which will be discussed include: auditory memory, auditory processing, gestalt processing, auditory and reading comprehension and vocabulary. Expressive language topics which will be discussed include: written and verbal language formulation, language organization, specific word retrieval and generation, verbal reasoning, narrative formulation, and descriptive language. Academic implications of these aspects of speech and language development will be discussed as well.
