MAKING MATH REAL
Math Camp for Kids Summer 2010

The Making Math Real Math Camp for Kids is specifically designed as a remediation program for students entering fourth grade through students entering eighth grade who need more development, strategies, and practice in several essential areas of mathematics. There will be two 3-week sessions and the focus of the two sessions will be on learning what we consider the most valuable mathematical development for all children: the multiplication and division facts and their respective applications, especially for fractions. We will also focus on integrating the concepts and procedures of basic and advanced place value. All activities will be hands-on, manipulatives-based, and fully multisensory. Since the math camp will take place during summer, learning will be primarily supported through high interest activities and games specifically designed to be prescriptive to students’ developmental needs. To maximize development and effectiveness, we encourage all campers to attend both sessions of math camp.
