EdRev 2010 Activities

EdRev 2010 will feature a wide range of fun and educational activities for kids of all ages! Confirmed so far:

EdRev 2010 Art Contest!

for students who learn differently

Categories:
Visual Art: painting, sculpture, photography, works on paper.
Written Word: poetry, essay, short story
Video: short film
Music: up to 10 minutes of music

All submissions due by April 2nd, 2010.

Please attach a brief Artist Statement including: what your piece is about, your name, your learning difficulty, address, contact number & email address.

826 Valencia

826'ers will be guiding students in a four-panel cartooning activity. Target age range: 6 - 18

Acrosports    

Tumbling obstacle course with assorted mats and equipment. Target age range: 18 months-10 year old children

AT&T Park / San Francisco Giants

Base Running:  Round the bases as fast as you can to beat the throw home and score a run for your team!
Pop-fly Machine:  Compete against your friends and race to catch the pop flies launched into the outfield.
Batting Tunnels:  The indoor tunnels, located below the Giants and Visitors' Dugouts, allow you the opportunity to hit balls in the same tunnels where Pablo Sandoval, Bengie Molina and Aaron Rowand hone their swings. 
Fan Lot:  Enjoy a slide into home plate from one of the four slides inside the 80-foot Coca-Cola bottle, stroll up to the world's largest baseball glove or run the bases inside Little Giants Park.
Speed Pitch:  Test your arm to see how fast you can throw one across the plate!

Bay Area Shakespeare Camp    

Instruction and interactive demo for stage-combat sword technique. Target age range: 7-13

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco

Founded in 1891, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco serves more than 1,200 youth (age 6-18) per day.  Dedicated to helping the kids who need us most, BGCSF provides a range of programs that inspire young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Target age range: 6-18

Brain Gym

Brain Gym is a practical system, for all ages that uses simple movements to release stress and stimulate certain brain functions.  Brain Gym began as a breakthrough for over coming learning difficulties, and has expanded into a program for optimizing learning and drawing out potential in all areas of life. Target age range: School age (all ages)

Exploratorium

Hands-on Light and Color activities for parents and children together. Target age range: 12:30-1:15pm K - 5th grade; 2:15-3:00pm 6 - 8th grade

Girl Scouts

Exhibiting Girl Scout programs and what is available in the area.  Target age range: 5-15.

Golden Gate Boys Choir

Regional Boys Choir in San Francisco Bay Area with choral music, handbells, summer camp and concert tours. Target age range: boys age 6-12.

Golden Gate NRA-National Park Service    

A "Please Touch" table, with things you can find on the beaches in the Bay Area. Target age range: Six and up

It's Yoga, Kids    

It’s Yoga, Kids® provides yoga as a healthy fun activity for mind and body development for all ages and abilities. Target age range: all ages

Kinesthetic Academics

Imagine learning how to write powerfully by playing ball!  Kinesthetic Academics, or acquiring knowledge and skills through movement, naturally allows students to overcome problems with writing (distractions, inability to articulate, lack of organization and idea creation)  Thomas Armstrong, Multiple Intelligences author stated, "Teachers really need this material!"

One Smart Kid, LLC

One Smart Kid will offer a variety of book-making activities. Participants can choose to create organizational planning books, fun journal books, creative flash card books and more, using sustainable and recycled materials. Target age range: K-12th Grade.

Navarrete's Black Belt Academy    

Taekwondo is an "art that trains you both physically and mentally." Students learn more than kicking and punching; they learn life skills such as self-control, respect, self-esteem and confidence. These concepts are reinforced through structured curriculum and feedback from highly-trained instructors. The rigorous physical activity promotes health, coordination, and self-discipline. Target age range: 3 through 14

Project Commotion

Project Commotion is a community space where children, families and educators are invited to learn and grow together through movement, sensory experiences, and play.
Join us for some fun rhythmical exploration, movement and martial arts activities for kids and adults! Target age range: all ages.

Project Eye-To-Eye

Empowerment and Expression Through Art: Come do art with Project Eye-To-Eye’s Mentors (all of whom have learning disabilities!) where you will have the opportunity to access your strengths, explore your story, find your voice, and participate in a dialogue about social and personal change through art. Target age range: 8-14.

San Francisco Fencers' Club    

Fencing Club. Target age range: 5 and up

The San Francisco SPCA AAT Programs    

The SF SPCA Puppy Dog Tales Reading Program (PDT) supports children struggling to achieve basic literacy. Volunteers and educators report that children quickly warm up to the therapy dogs, subsequently feeling safe and supported enough to meet their reading challenges. Target age range: 5-10 years old

Young People's Teen Musical Theatre Co.

Showcase talents of young teens, performing from recent musical productions of "RENT, the School Edition" and "Spelling Bee".  Music, Drama, Dance, and Singing! Target age range: 13-18.

Youth Speaks

Workshops that explore self-identity and voice using literary arts, spoken word and poetry as tools. Target age range: 10-adult

What's Cooking    

Come play with your food!  Children of all ages will learn age-appropriate tasks to help their families in the kitchen.  We'll show you how to use cooking to improve self-confidence, work with sensory integration and create healthy eating habits. Target age range: 3-99.

Will Mosgrove Photography

Participation by students in making photographic 'sun prints'. This is a water based process where students make their own prints, rinse them in water and after they dry, take them home. Target age range: 6 - 99.

Zeum:  San Francisco Children's Museum

Arts and technology demonstration featuring entry points for youth with learning disabilities. Target age range: K - 12
